1967 L-78 SS Camaro Convertible
Below
is my dads 67 SS Conv. Camaro. I will attempt to tell a little about
it, although
he is the guru on the subject. I don't think you could call this a
restoration project because the car has never had a panel or anything
replaced. It is all original, from the T3 headlights to the rear
bumper. It was my dads SS/IA drag car back in the 70's before they
were allowed to tub the back half. so it was never cut on. It is
being put back together to original condition with the same parts
that came off of it. It still has the original top and interior, which
is as mint as you could find on a 33 year old muscle car.
Speaking
of muscle, it came factory with a L-78 375hp. 396cid big block,
muncie 4speed, and posi-trac 12bolt rear-end. These were built by
Chevrolet for drag racing, so much so, that very few people even knew
they were available in 1967. I have read that their were a little
over 1000 of these cars built in 67, with 10% or less being
convertibles. Closer figures say around 50 67 L-78 Convertibles built
and not knowing how many is left in existence.
